Double delight for Wilsons Auctions as it heads to Wembley!

We have been nominated in two categories at this year's The National Family Business Awards which takes place in London's Wembley Stadium on July 15th.

We are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories at The National Family Business Awards 2017 at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 15th July.

Formed in 1936 in Northern Ireland, we will represent the very best of Northern Ireland and Ireland’s family-owned businesses in the Family Business of the Year category while Managing Director, Ian Wilson is in the running for the Lifetime Achievement award.

Wilsons Auctions has sixteen sites, including eight branches in Belfast, Portadown, Dalry, Dublin, Telford, Queensferry, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and Maidstone. It is the only auction company in the British Isles to offer a national coverage and processes a hammer total in excess of £250 million annually.

Currently holding over 1,000 auctions annually, the company auctions everything from cars and vans, plant and machinery & property to general goods, as well as the more luxurious items including planes, yachts, gold bars, supercars, designer goods and prestigious watches.

Now in its eighth year, the awards were founded to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Britain and Ireland’s family-owned businesses and the entrepreneurs who lead them. From husband and wife farm shops to fifth generation tailors and everything in between; the UK and Ireland are home to over 3 million family firms.

Ian Wilson, Managing Director of Wilsons Auctions said, “We are thrilled to be shortlisted in the Family Business of the Year category and proud to represent Northern Ireland and Ireland, I am also honoured to be up for the Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Since I took the business over from my father in 1976, I have been working hard along with the fantastic management and staff to grow Wilsons Auctions and have invested in a total of eight branches across the UK and Ireland. We’re really proud of our growing reputation and excited to be part of The National Family Business Awards along with our fellow family businesses from the rest of the country,” he added.

Amalia Brightley-Gillott, The National Family Business Awards Director said, “Every year we are blown away by the variety and calibre of family businesses who enter the awards. Few people realise that every time they visit their local hairdresser, stay in a boutique hotel, by a bottle of wine, have a necklace made or buy cheese in the supermarket that they are in fact supporting passionate, dedicated families who have set up in business together. They might be hundreds of years old or new kids on the block. These awards are our chance to say ‘thank you’ and give recognition for their contribution.”
